Viral Videos are video clips that gain popularity on the internet from people via email or social networking. They go “viral” being spread and shared (marketed) with their friends.
This week I saw Verizon’s video marketing the Druid phone. Close to one million views, it has quickly gone viral. And look at me adding it on my blog! 🙂
Here are some of the key factors I find interesting about this viral video:
- Short title = iDon’t
- Catchy jingle.
- Length of video is short but sweet – 32 seconds!
- It makes fun of the competition, iPhone.
- The video itself is done without actors; computer generated.
- It’s funny and unique.
- It has the web address posted at the end so viewers can get more information. (although I feel it should have stayed visible a little longer)
- The video doesn’t state the company name: Verizon.
- The video uses iphone lingo to catch your attention.
It caught my attention. Did it catch yours? That’s the goal for a viral video!

One way to help with search engine optimization is to submit a RSS feed (free to everyone) to increase traffic to your site and create more backlinks. I recommend everyone add their RSS feed to www.feedage.com This will help with SEO and is something you don’t want to let slip by the way side.
I personally like that this website is categorized by subject and is searchable. You can also apply a Feedage plugin to your WordPress blog and add it to your social networking sites. (Like I did) Although this site is user friendly, you can email them if you need help. Good customer service is important. And many websites don’t meet the need. Let me not go in that direction…I can save that topic for another post! lol Anyhow, I know Feedage will respond to your questions!

This last week I came across a good example of a web site not well optimized or developed for search engines. So, here I am writing and asking you this question. Is your web site search engine optimized?
I love searching for products and people in search engines. (Primarily in Google since it’s the “big kahuna!”) Last week, I was given a recommended name and wanted to see if they were listed in Google and if I could figure out what company they worked for. The only thing I knew was that the person lived locally, here in South Florida.
The person’s first name was very common but I found a page with information about the work team with this possible person on the team. But interestingly enough, from this landing page, I could not tell what the name of the company was!
Now you and I know that if you look at the URL, you can navigate around the website. But for the average user who doesn’t have much web knowledge, they would be lost and would walk away from that landing page. So, to sum it up, what was the problem I encountered?
In the literal sense, the page didn’t have any navigation so I couldn’t see the home page with the name of the company! It was a site built with frames! I am going to use this experience for your benefit. Does your site have pages that will give the user answers or knowledge to what they are seeking?
When someone lands on one of your web pages in search engine results, is the web page optimized to guide them to what they are looking for? Whether a navigation bar, a product, contact information or something else, will the user leave or stay and be satisfied?

One passion I have, (after my Savior, Jesus Christ) is for search engine optimization. (SEO involves optimizing web pages for placement in search engine results.) As a Christian, I see the need for ministries to use SEO on their websites. But oddly enough, it is not widely seen! Do you know how to evangelize on the web? I ask you. Where do you find people? But, I still come back to search engines. Sometimes people type words such as “who created this world” or “who is God” or “life is rotten.” Doesn’t it make sense to apply SEO skills to give people answers they are searching for? It is important to remember that meta title tags and meta description tags are always important for ranking in search engines.
